Ch’ien

What began with my own closet became a way of questioning why we hold onto things, how we define ourselves, and what can happen when we choose to let some of that go. Ch’ien is my real-time attempt to live that out.

Ch’ien began as an attempt to detach from material things and give the clothing, objects, and pieces I’ve collected another life.

What started with wanting to share what’s in my closet is becoming a space for creative people, their work, their objects, and their stories.

Not just a place to find things, but a place to find people.

Why I started

Ch’ien draws from ancient Taoist thought and reinterprets its wisdom through modern creative life.

At its center is the practice of letting go, moving naturally, and allowing things to change rather than holding onto them simply because they are ours.

What began as my own attempt to detach from material things has become a place for clothing, objects, art, and personal pieces to take on new lives.

What it’s becoming

What began with my own closet is becoming something much larger. Ch’ien is growing into a market and community where clothing, art, objects, music, ideas, personal work, and the people behind them can exist together.

There is no need for everything, or everyone, to fit neatly into one category.

Something meant to evolve, not be defined.

What I hope for

I hope Ch’ien becomes a place where people are seen as individuals before they are defined by what they do.

Someone can be an artist, collector, designer, musician, friend, seller, or none of those things at all. I want the community to bring different people, interests, work, objects, ideas, and experiences together without needing to separate everything into categories.
